2014 - Year in Review

With another amazing year coming to a close, I’d like to take a moment and reflect back on some of the highlights. As many of you know, my wife Lydia and I welcomed our twins, Jack and Audrey into the world on a rainy Wednesday in April. They surprised us all, coming 6 weeks early. Their arrival filled our hearts with unimaginable joy and love. Life seemed to stand still the moment that we saw their tiny little faces for the first time. Coming off a very successful 2013, my 2014 wedding season booked up quicker than I could have anticipated. The news of not one, but two babies shocked our world. Needless to say, wedding season of 2014 was a wild ride!

The 2014 wedding season started with back to back weddings in California. First in May in Santa Rosa and then back again at the end of June in San Fransisco. July and August brought a variety of amazing weddings all over Oregon: two in Portland, one in the Gorgeone in the Canby, one in Bend and one on the Coast (the last two happening in the same weekend!). I finished up the year in my hometown of Minneapolis for a beautiful fall affair.

With each season that passes, I’m continually amazed and honored that people choose me to photograph their most important of days. With four years and over 30 weddings now under my belt, I still feel the butterflies and nerves before each job. People often ask me what it is that continues to draw me towards photographing weddings. The best way that I’ve found to describe it is that it’s like solving a puzzle. You have to balance lighting, with the timing, with the personalities, with the stories, with the important moments, with the venue, with the emotions, with family dynamics. No two weddings are ever alike. I am continually inspired by meeting new families and solving the perfect puzzle that is a wedding.

I want to thank each and every one of you who has taken the time to view my work, refer me to your friends and family and to trust me with your special day. I do everything in my power to pour my heart and soul into telling your story. I am looking forward to meeting new families and telling their stories in 2015.
