I was fortunate to attend a truly spectacular wedding a few weekends ago in Colorado. Kay & Shane were married in front of their 80 closest friends and family with the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains at Lionscrest Manor, just outside of Boulder. This wedding held a special meaning for me. Six years ago, on a rainy day in Portland, Kay introduced me to a pretty lady named Lydia. That day changed my life and for that I'll always be indebted to Kay. I was totally honored when she asked me to photograph her wedding.
I met Shane's mother in the lobby of the hotel prior to the ceremony and she explained to me that Shane is her only child. When I asked her how it was living so far apart (she lives in Virginia and he in Colorado) she told me it was pretty rough. She explained to me that when Shane was in college, she would drive 3 hours every weekend to his college town to see him (and do his laundry)! So to see the ear to ear smile on her face as she sang every word of their first dance to her only son, it was an absolute joy. These little moments make me truly feel inspired to be a wedding photographer. I couldn't be happier for these two.
Cheers to a lifetime of love, hiking and IPA! I love you guys!
